Through its principal teachers, Copper Mountain Institute has a special affiliation and connection to the lineages, practices and teachings of the Nyingma (Nyingma, Tibetan: “Ancient”) School of Tibetan Buddhism founded on the first translations of Buddhist scriptures from Sanskrit into Old Tibetan in the eighth century, during the reign of King Trisong Detsen. 

A collection of centers worldwide, named Dzogchen Nyingthig by Adzom Paylo Rinpoche, presently help secure and preserve the teachings and transmissions of the Longchen Nyingthig and the Osel Nyingthig.

The Longchen Nyingthig Lineage

Rigzin Jigme Lingpa is one of the central figures in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. He experienced visions of the great 14th-century master Longchenpa through which he revealed the entire Longchen Nyingthig cycle of teaching and practice, which he held secret from 1757 until 1764 when he conferred the empowerments upon a group of fifteen disciples.

The Longchen Nyingthig lineage has been handed down from teacher to student in an unbroken succession, its teachings and practices presently conveyed to students worldwide, by Adzom Peylo and Adzom Gylse, Rinpoche.
